Responsibilities

  • Ownership of assigned processes
  • Development of new and improvement of existing processes
  • Technical consultation for assigned processes
  • Statistical Process Control and improvement of Process Capabilities (basic knowledge in QA)
  • Planning and execution of process development projects by Design of Experiment
  • Preparation of project reports
  • Environmental, Health and Safety measures for assigned processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Applied Physics/ Material Science/ Nanotechnology/ Microsystems/ Science or related field
  • Several years of profound experience as a process engineer
  • Consolidated knowledge about semiconductor manufacturing (Photolithography-/Plasma-processes or Opto-Electronic assembling and device testing)
  • Very good English skills (upper intermediate)
  • Strong analytic and data skills
  • Reliable, goal- and team-oriented way of working, even in time critical situations

We are looking for an R&D Engineer to join our international team in Dortmund. Here, you will be a part of highly motivated and experienced team, developing cutting-edge optoelectronic solutions and devices for data telecom market. Among the products you will be working on COMB, DFB, DBR and tunable laser diodes, and short pulse generating devices, using high variety of free-space and fiber measurement setups.

We are seeking for a person with keen interest in experimental physics, who can generate and develop ideas, work without permanent supervision and be a strong team-player. To be successful, you have to understand semiconductor physics and laser optics, have practical skills in experimental work with optical and electronical systems. Also, it is desirable to have some practical experience in engineering programming languages. You should be ready to fast adapt and continuous learn new things every day.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an international team on development of semiconductor optoelectronic devices and solutions
  • Generate ideas for new products and manage projects to implement products in real life
  • Improve existing products to enhance functionality and reduce costs
  • Deep cross-department collaboration for smooth and in-time project execution
  • Develop and build measurement setups
  • Design and conduct experiments to characterize and evaluate laser diode properties and performance
  • Analyze experimental data
  • Present reports and discuss results with colleagues and customers, generate project documentation
  • Support Business Development and Sales departments

Requirements

  • PhD in semiconductor/laser physics or in related fields
  • 10+ year work in optical laboratory in industry or academia; experience in development of semiconductor optoelectronic devices or laser systems would be beneficial
  • Analytical skills, understanding of optical and electrical engineering principles and theories
  • Practical knowledge of semiconductor devices, ideally laser or/and light emitting diodes
  • Experience in designing and building experimental setups
  • Good understanding of software development methods; practical experience in any of programming languages for experiment automation, science and engineering (LabVIEW, Wolfram, MatLab, Python, etc.)
  • Practical experience with electronics (soldering, programming, etc.)
  • Experience with patent application or knowledge of engineering standards will be a plus
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent English (spoken and written)

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintain laboratory facilities: this includes instrument calibration, on & off-site equipment storage, stocking engineering hardware consumables;
  • Take an active part in measurement setup development, upgrade and support, including designing, assembling and programming;
  • Work with engineering technician staff to ensure on-time analysis and reporting of test results to supervising engineers & product managers & quality engineers;

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in physics/electronics/engineering or in related fields
  • 3+ years work experience in opto-, micro-electronic laboratory in industry or academia
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of optical and electrical engineering principles and theories
  • Basic knowledge of semiconductor devices, ideally laser or/and light emitting diodes
  • Experience in designing and building experimental setups
  • Good understanding of software development methods; practical experience in any of programming languages for experiment automation, science and engineering (LabVIEW is preferred)
